Clubman Cup

Clubman Cup

Description: "The next step after graduating from amateur class. Advanced skills required"

Ah, remember when even the Clubman represented a significant step up with the challenge? Again, another a 3-race championship. Money improves even more to reflect the advance in difficulty.

On the other hand, watch the competition closely during the races. They've got a mixture of good and bad driving. What I mean by "bad" is, they're making all sorts of little mistakes. Braking or turning in too late, and then needing damage control to finish the rest of the turns, and so on. Watch them carefully. As they all pile into the switchbacks of Autumn Ring or the sweepers of Route 5, pay attention to where they're at on the track. Often taking a bad line, about to eat some grass or a wall.

These are the moments we can trump their position, merely by being in the right place at the right time!

Parts:
Tires: Semi-Racing, typically Soft/Soft for neutral-handling cars, or a combo of Soft/Hard or Hard/Soft for those with extreme understeer or oversteer.

Brake Type: Normal. Racing brakes can be used for cars which haven't got racing heritage.

Suspension: Sports for common commuter-type rides (Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Galant, Nissan Silvia, etc.)
Normal for sports cars (Honda NSX, Mazda RX-7, Subaru Impreza WRX...)

Stabilizers: Soft or Medium

Gear Type: Normal or Close (depends on track Autumn Ring, most will require shorter gears)
Flywheel: as needed
Clutch: Single
Carbon Driveshaft: okay, unless you qualify too fast!

Payment:
Pole Position: 2,500 cr.
First Place: 7,000 cr.
Championship: 20,000

Prize: '96 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 30th Anniversary

Math: divide your car's weight by whatever number is shown below; a different calculation will be needed for Qualifying and the actual race.

Qualifying:

Race: For extra challenge, remove a small extra amount of power if qualifying 1st or 2nd. Let's say -5 horsepower. The race itself will still be ultra-close.

---------------------------------------

Autumn Ring

Qualify: 9.61
Racing: 10.09

Close gearing can typically be used at this track. All other tracks will usually require the car's factory transmission.

---------------------------------------

Clubman Stage Route 5

Qualify: 8.22
Racing: 9.56

It's a really good idea to do five practice laps each time before even thinking of attempting to qualify. Don't ask questions, just do it!

It helps, of course, to get to the point where we can turn into certain curves with as little braking as possible, without smacking those walls. The AI will be slamming them on occasion, missing proper turn-in arcs, and so on. It gets downright fun once the driver gets to the point of outsmarting them.

Trial Mountain

Qualify: 8.29
Racing: 10.24
