FF Challenge
Description:
Front-drive cars only, B License required. Typically, the front-drive-only races have been some of the easier set of races,
right? Forget all that in this first game. Don't qualify 1st or 2nd, you'll have a hell of a time trying to thread through
traffic to the front.
The Honda Civic CR-X, Honda Integra Type R and Mitsubishi
Eclipse are top competition here. Hondas due to their spiffy handling and unquestionable traction, and
the Mitsubishi's got that torquey V6. The Nissan Primera sedan and Toyota Levin BZG join the action at times, too.

Again, I've included lap times which scored Pole Position.

Our first instance of a reversed track, and oh boy, there will be many more
to come. Drivers can become very punt-happy at this track for some reason, clambering all over our rear bumpers and fenders
instead of going around us.

Our competition still makes the same mistake
they've been making ever since the GVE Spot Race: they take the downhill sweeping righty Turn 4 too hot, washing
off into the grass, somethings slamming the outer wall to the left!

Now comes the most daunting track Polyphony Digital has ever conceived.
A schizophrenic scramble of a track which any driver should take at least an hour to learn, another hour to fine-tune, and
a lifetime to perfect.
I'm not sure it's possible to attain Pole
Position at this track, I have yet to come anywhere close. Funny too, since the AI drives the actual race not nearly
as well I we can: Illogical cornering arcs and inefficient braking & exiting, et cetera. Those of us who've spent
even twenty minutes learning the track (practicing lap after lap) and have a somewhat decent memory for its cantankerous
corners and sweepers will easily be able to defeat them; hence, the lowish recommended power at this track.
During the first quarter of Route 11, PD has provided us with nifty signs which
direct us through those early turns. A sign up ahead warns us of a sharp lefty, coming right up! 150 meters, 100 meters, 50
meters... how very helpful
But by the "dual
chicane" area under the main straight, those helpful signs are gone. :-/
One thing which helps (sort of) is this: when approaching a turn with yellow and black arrows, this indicates
where the inside of the turn shall be. So if we approach a turn with yellow & black on the left, this generally
means we're going to be turning left. Red and white arrows are used on the outside of the turn.
This is not 100% reliable, but for most of Route 11's twenty-three turns, that's
a good guideline to follow.
